one pair of jeans, five looks

A few weeks ago, I was strolling through the flea market on a Saturday morning when I spotted these amazing pair of Topshop jeans in a “Quinn” style. As soon as I picked them up, I immediately fell in love with the flared look, which is very much trending again. I checked the size and when the guy told me he was selling them for just 5 Francs, I didn’t hesitate another second and bought the pair. Jeans are not something I usually buy, since I hardly ever find any that fit well, because most jeans are cut way too short on me. Now imagine the struggle that I face when buying jeans secondhand, where you have little to no chance of trying them on and thus have to fully trust the size. Motivated by the fact that the price was so low, I went for it anyways because I really enjoyed the retro look.
When I came home, I immediately tried them on and discovered/noticed that they fit me like a glove! I was so glad that I took the risk; now they are one of my favorite pairs of jeans. Since buying them I’ve been wearing them way too much. I thought that I could show you guys what I have been pairing them with so it doesn’t seem as if they were the only pants I own. ;)
I am absolutely in love with this find and the fact that they are so different from your everyday skinny pair. I felt so good and received many compliments wearing them but I also realized that very few people are rocking them nowadays, from what I’ve seen in Zurich. On the other hand, I’ve been seeing loads of brands come out with flared jeans lately and I’ve always wanted to bring them back. And so, I created five completely different looks, because, let’s be honest, who doesn’t feel their most powerful in a good pair of flared jeans? *insert ABBA song here*
1st look: Tomboy
This look is a classic exam week outfit: very comfortable, simple and effortless. Here I used a blue hoodie to add a pop of color, but for a more subtle look you can always pair it with any other sweater. Even though this is such an easy look, the flared pants give it a certain oomph that a pair of skinny jeans wouldn’t add.

2nd look: Night out
I’ve always loved the combination of edgy and girly and whenever I see the opportunity to play around with both styles, I take it. Here I paired the baggy jeans with this simple black turtleneck and threw a leather jacket over it. The statement belt ties in really nicely with the whole theme of the outfit, keeping the color palette as neutral as possible. To finish it off I put on a little crossbody bag and some sneakers, which you could easily change for a pair of heels or boots for a more formal look. The red lip gave me an elevated feeling but can totally be left out for a more everyday look.

3rd look: Parisian chic
This look is my typical good-mood-outfit for whenever I get up and feel like dressing nice for school. I’m a big fan of button-down shirts, especially on top of a turtleneck, because they make an outfit look so put together and chic even though the effort is minimal. One of my favorite ways to spice up an otherwise rather simple outfit it to add a pair of statement sunglasses (the ones I used for this look are vintage Giorgio Armani and such a gem, but you can add any pair of your choice).

4th look: Cool girl
This is my favorite kind of outfit to wear on weekends, when strolling through the city or grabbing a coffee with friends. Even though I’m already wearing a thin army jacket, you can very easily layer another jacket on top for colder weather. The army green adds an edge to an otherwise simple outfit.

5th look: Smart casual
Have you ever wondered what to wear to a work dinner or family party? A dress seems so over the top, but jeans and a sweater are way too casual? The solution to this problem is simple and it is called a blazer! Just by throwing a blazer over an everyday look, like a pair of jeans and a simple white t-shirt, you can really elevate an outfit. And the absolute best thing about this look is, while looking really chic, you will not have to worry about feeling uncomfortable at any moment. This is also a great transitional look in situations where you don’t have time to go home and change before the event, since it is casual enough to be worn all day around. For an edgier, younger look you can swap out the white t-shirt for an oversized, vintage band-tee and throw a leather jacket on top.
